Man United’s January transfer, Patrick Dorgu, sent off following a HORROR assault on Ipswich’s Omari Hutchinson, following a VAR assessment

Manchester United wing-back Patrick Dorgu received a straight red card for a shocking tackle during his team’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

The incident took place in the 43rd minute when Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson attempted to control the ball near the touchline. Dorgu lunged in, but instead of playing the ball, he caught Hutchinson high on the shin.

Initially, the referee appeared to take a lenient stance, but VAR intervened, prompting the official to review the challenge on the pitchside monitor. After viewing the replays, the referee reversed his decision and issued a red card to Dorgu, who was then consoled by teammate Manuel Ugarte.

Dorgu, who joined from Serie A side Lecce for £29.4 million last month, had already experienced a tough start to the match. A mix-up with goalkeeper Andre Onana allowed Jaden Philogene to score for Ipswich just four minutes into the game.

Despite Dorgu’s dismissal, United fought back with two goals in quick succession. A Sam Morsy own goal leveled the score, followed by Matthijs de Ligt putting the Red Devils ahead. However, Dorgu faced a heavy challenge from Hutchinson, and moments later, he mis-timed another tackle, resulting in his red card.

With Dorgu sent off, United had to navigate the remainder of the match with only 10 players. Just minutes after his departure, Philogene scored again in first-half stoppage time, equalizing at 2-2.

However, the Red Devils regained the lead early in the second half thanks to Harry Maguire, ultimately securing a vital three points.
