GOLDEN MUSCLE: I’ve gone up a few cup sizes, jokes David Beckham as he lifts the curtain on training routine and secret injury toward the end of his career

FOR years, he was celebrated for his gifted right foot.

Now, as he nears his 50th birthday, David Beckham is earning praise for an entirely different feature—his pecs.

The star believes that near-daily workouts focused on his upper body have helped him “go up a few cup sizes” in the chest department. Goldenboobs, if you will.

The former Manchester United midfielder, who previously prioritized leg day, credits ex-Team GB athlete-turned-PT Bobby Rich for his body transformation. Beckham states: “It was never upper body—I didn’t have pecs until I met Bob. Now, we work on them most days. I feel good.”

While the Inter Miami boss has always had a sculpted torso and well-defined legs, he is currently fitter than ever. A former Barry’s Bootcamp and Soul Cycle enthusiast—I’ve seen him leave classes for both—he now trains smartly and intensely under Bobby’s watchful eye.

With home gyms in the Cotswolds, London, and Miami, there’s no excuse to skip a workout, and wife Victoria often joins him for cardio sessions.

Becks notes: “I’ve been trying to get Victoria to work out with Bob for years, and she finally agreed. We now train five to six days a week together. I love it. We give each other plenty of grief. She doesn’t always listen to Bobby… she does her own thing. She’s not great at resting. He’ll give her a 90-second break, and she’s ready to go after 25.”

While Posh Spice, who has a very low body fat percentage, prefers the Stairmaster and Versaclimber—two particularly challenging gym machines—Becks favors pull-ups, metcon workouts, and strength training. He’s also taken up padel, playing three times a week.

After retiring from football 12 years ago, Beckham acknowledges that his body endured significant wear and tear during his illustrious career, which included 19 trophies and 115 caps for England. In a recent interview with Men’s Health magazine, he revealed that he secretly broke his back during one of his last games for LA Galaxy. The injury was discovered weeks later, but could have led to long-term damage if it hadn’t been treated.

He reflects on growing up in a time when stretching, mobility work, ice baths, foam rollers, and proper warm-ups weren’t routine and says this contributed to some of his injuries.

He adds: “I think that’s why certain parts of my body were a real mess. My last game at Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, I had three cortisone injections in my ankle and Achilles just to play. I’ve had cortisone injections in my back, too. I actually broke my back. I was living in LA and cracked my spine. I had pain after a game, went for a scan, and they couldn’t find anything wrong. I insisted something wasn’t right. They injected me with dye, and then it showed up. It was a bad one.”
