The Englishman and the former City academy graduate both scored late goals to spark yet another amazing European comeback.
Real Madrid rallied twice to upset Manchester City 3-2 in the first leg of their Champions League play-off match, but Jude Bellingham’s late goal put an end to the thrilling contest. Brahim Diaz and Kylian Mbappe both scored. The England midfielder’s goal in the 93rd minute completed an unlikely but remarkably predictable comeback.
Ferland Mendy botched his close-range opportunity to give Los Blancos the lead after Mbappe found him in front of goal after ten minutes. Erling Haaland quickly made Josko Gvardiol pay by skimming a lay-off into the far corner to give City a 1-0 lead. Just before halftime, Mbappe had a great chance of his own with lots of space in the box, but he missed the mark.
After some excellent inspiration from Vinicius Jr., Bellingham had a great chance early in the second half but missed it before Mbappe equalized by scuffing a shot into the far corner from a Dani Ceballos cross. Soon after, Bellingham should have made it 2-1, but Ederson’s save stopped him.
After 80 minutes, Ceballos clipped Phil Foden in the box, and they had to pay for it since Haaland struck a penalty spot perfectly. However, there was more twist as Bellingham capitalized on Vinicius’ weak attempt to score the game-winning goal in stoppage time, after Brahim had driven in a late equalizer following an Ederson blunder.

produced some outstanding saves. incapable of achieving either goal.

missed a great early opportunity, but he played solid defense.
For Dani Ceballos, a 5/10
helped Mbappe tie the score, but he was penalized for a reckless challenge.

He is a motivated and industrious midfielder upon his comeback from injury. Class.
Jude Bellingham (8/10):
In addition to his undeniable defensive effort rate, he occasionally possessed remarkable ball control. didn’t offer a lot of future benefits. That is, until he buried the late winner.
Rodrygo (5/10):
In the final third, he periodically lost his temper and didn’t produce much. a rather poor showing after some excellent play.
(7/10) Vinicius Jr.:
Very ambiguous. The first half was nowhere like as big as the second half. technical assistance to the winner.
Kylian Mbappe (8/10):
His management continuously chastised him for not following up. He scored the equalizer despite utterly mishitting his shot. also took part in the other two.
