MMA legend Francis Ngannou playfully tackled Andre Onana to the ground following Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, marking Ruben Amorim’s first match at Old Trafford.
After the game, Ngannou was seen on the pitch chatting with fellow Cameroonian Onana, who he praised as the man of the match. The former UFC heavyweight champion and the United goalkeeper engaged in some lighthearted play-fighting, with Ngannou quickly bringing Onana down.
Following their playful tussle, the two shared a handshake, but Onana humorously called for a rematch, saying, “I demand a rematch in a real ring! Let’s settle this once and for all!”
Fans expressed concern for Onana’s well-being, with one joking, “Breaking news: Andre Onana is out for the next decade with a broken everything,” and another adding, “He is our only injury-free player, come on.”
In a post-match interview with TNT Sports, Ngannou shared his thoughts on the game, saying, “It was a good match, we had fun and there was a lot of action. Yes, it was my first time here, and it was a great experience with a victory. Andre had a fantastic game, even with a yellow card. He was the man of the match.”
Ngannou enjoyed the game alongside boxer Derek Chisora and is not the only MMA star to engage with Premier League players this season; Conor McGregor also showcased his football skills before playfully sparring with Bukayo Saka.
