Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic made NBA history during a 118-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. The three-time NBA MVP recorded a triple-double, leading the Nuggets to their fourth consecutive win.

In a standout moment during the second quarter, Jokic made a slick pass that allowed him to become the fastest player to reach 15,000 points, 7,500 rebounds, and 5,000 assists, achieving this remarkable milestone in just 709 games. He surpassed the previous record held by Larry Bird, who reached it in 799 games.

Additionally, Jokic joined NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only center to record 5,000 assists. Entering the game with 4,992 career assists, he secured his 8th assist in the third quarter, completing his triple-double.

Nikola Jokic finished the game with 10 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, marking his 146th career triple-double. The 2023 NBA Champion is currently averaging a career-high 31.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game, placing him in contention for MVP honors once again this season.

This performance marked Jokic’s second consecutive triple-double after missing Denver’s previous two games due to illness. His 145th triple-double also set a record, as he and Russell Westbrook became the first teammates in NBA history to record triple-doubles in the same game multiple times within a single season. Westbrook contributed with his 202nd career triple-double during the game against the Mavericks.

Jamal Murray was the standout performer for the Nuggets, scoring a season-high 45 points along with six assists, while Michael Porter Jr. added 13 points. The Nuggets held a commanding 71-45 lead at halftime, and the Mavericks were unable to mount a comeback. Jokic’s rim protection and rebounding were particularly noteworthy throughout the game.
