Despite Eintracht Frankfurt raising the player’s price at the last minute, the Etihad team is still determined to complete the Omar Marmoush deal.

Sky Sports reports that Manchester City and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement over the transfer fee for Marmoush. The English club have agreed to pay Frankfurt’s asking price of 80 million euros.
Previously, Man City was only willing to pay about 50 million euros. However, at the last minute, the German representative raised the player’s price to 80 million euros.
This is a very profitable deal for Frankfurt, given that Marmoush joined the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. The Egyptian striker is considered a “phenomenon” of the Bundesliga this season, scoring 13 goals in 15 matches, only 1 goal behind leader Harry Kane in the race for the tournament’s top scorer.
Previously, Bild reported that Marmoush contacted his agent and his club Frankfurt to express his desire to join Man City. The Egyptian striker reached a personal agreement with Man City, expected to sign a 5-year contract.
Marmoush has a different playing style compared to the current strikers in Man City’s attack. The Egyptian striker possesses speed and the ability to play wide. He can completely play with Haaland in attack, or play on the wing.
Man City’s board of directors has approved spending at least £200 million to strengthen the club’s squad in the January 2025 transfer window. The Etihad Stadium team has a large budget after selling Julian Alvarez to Atletico for more than £90 million in the summer.
Pep Guardiola’s failure to add a striker to replace Alvarez last summer is also part of the reason why Man City are playing poorly when they are in a crisis. Apart from the strikers, the most urgent solution for the reigning Premier League champions at the moment is to strengthen the midfield after Rodri is out for the rest of the season, while Gundogan and Kovacic are in poor form.
