Kylian Mbappé is currently one of the most sought-after talents in world football, having made an impressive debut for Monaco at just 16 years old in 2015. He quickly established himself as a prolific scorer, prompting Paris Saint-Germain to acquire him for a staggering £153.3 million.
As part of a star-studded PSG squad that included Neymar and Lionel Messi until Messi’s transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, Mbappé has had the privilege of playing alongside some of the game’s greatest. He also played with Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema for the French national team and was a key member of the talented French squad that won the 2018 World Cup, featuring stars like Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann.
Despite this, there is one player Mbappé wishes he could have teamed up with: Cristiano Ronaldo.
Having left PSG as the club’s all-time leading scorer with 256 goals over seven years, significant expectations were placed on the 26-year-old as he donned Real Madrid’s iconic white shirt. Joining a team fresh off winning both the La Liga title and the Champions League, Mbappé didn’t need to step in as the primary star, unlike his role at PSG where he shared the field with Messi and Neymar.
To date, he has made 23 appearances for his new club, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists. Notably, two of those goals have come in European competitions, making him the fourth-fastest player to reach 50 goals in Champions League history, achieving this milestone in just 79 matches.
As we enter 2025, Mbappé ranks as the third-highest scorer in La Liga with 10 goals, trailing only Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski (16) and Raphinha (11). However, his goal conversion rate stands at just 14 percent, the second-lowest among the league’s top 25 scorers, with only Lamine Yamal below him at nine percent from five goals in 16 appearances.
