Real Madrid secured a hard-fought victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, thanks to a solid performance from their star attacking trio: Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior, all of whom found the back of the net.
Bellingham, in particular, was exceptional, continuing his impressive run of form. After the match, Bellingham spoke to Micah Richards and Alessandro Del Piero, revealing how he’s found a new sense of freedom on the pitch. “I’m at my best when I play with freedom. I had meetings with Carlo [Ancelotti] who helped me find that freedom again,” he explained (h/t CBS Sports).
The English midfielder has been in sensational form, netting four goals and providing two assists in his last five games. Reflecting on his goal against Atalanta, Bellingham humorously admitted, “I didn’t know where the ball was going, I thought it would hit my back and everyone would laugh at me. But I got it and went 1v1 with the defender.”
Looking ahead, Bellingham discussed Real Madrid’s path forward, especially with a demanding January schedule on the horizon. “I think we have many levels to go, the fundamental things are what was letting us down,” he said, emphasizing the team’s potential for improvement.
Bellingham also shared his personal ambition for continued success with the club: “We won a lot last season, but I am desperate to do it again and many times for this club. I always want to affect the game with goals and assists, but it’s important I do the rest of my job as well. I now have the sniff back for it, hopefully, more is coming,” he concluded.
