Following their brief reunion upon reporting for England duty, Jude Bellingham and his younger brother Jobe shared a touching reunion.
With Jude emerging as one of the best players in the world with Real Madrid and Jobe playing at Championship leaders Sunderland, the Bellingham brothers rarely get to spend time together during the season.
However, after reporting for national team duty at England’s St George’s Park training facility on Monday, the two were able to spend some vital time together.
In preparation for the Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland, Jude traveled from Madrid to join Lee Carsley’s first team, and his younger brother was selected for the first time in the Three Lions’ Under-21 squad.
After a spectacular start to the season with Sunderland, where he scored two goals and started all but one game as the Black Cats swept to the top of the Championship rankings, the younger sibling has been rewarded.
Jobe, who is still following in his brother’s footsteps as he progressed through England’s youth ranks, was granted a unique opportunity to interact with senior players when he and his older brother met at the national team’s headquarters.
Both brothers were beaming as they embraced, relishing the unique event and hoping to play together at a major tournament in the future.
As he competes for starting time in the Young Lions’ forthcoming matches against Spain and the Netherlands, Jobe will be looking to impress England’s selectors.
After that, both will return to their teams, with their mother Denise managing Jude’s career in Spain and their father Mark staying in England with Jobe.
Jude, who finally scored his first goal of the season with Real Madrid over the weekend, is happy to be back with his England teammates over the international break.
After being forced back by Kylian Mbappe’s spectacular arrival, the midfielder has struggled in a deeper role at Madrid throughout a challenging season thus far.
After scoring in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Osasuna for Real Madrid, the 21-year-old celebrated. He returns to England as a senior member of a Three Lions team beset by injuries.
Due to the injury withdrawals of key players from big Premier League clubs, interim manager Carsley will be without eight first-team players.
Carsley has had to make a number of courageous choices as a result, including giving three players, including Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, their first caps.
