UPDATE: Liverpool injury blow as Trent Alexander-Arnold limps off in worrying scenes ahead of England game

After Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury in Liverpool’s last game before the international break, LEE CARSLEY took a huge hit to his final England squad.

In the 24th minute of Liverpool’s match against Aston Villa, the defender went down to the ground due to a hamstring injury.

Substituting for him a minute later was Conor Bradley.

The injury occurred shortly after Villa’s penalty claim was waved down by referee David Coote following a tackle by Ibrahima Konate that sent Ollie Watkins to the ground.

The home team took the lead when Darwin Nunez beat goalie Emiliano Martinez.

Under Arne Slot’s tutelage, the 26-year-old has emerged as a major player for the Reds this year.

In all competitions, Alexander-Arnold has made 14 appearances, with 10 of those being Premier League starts.

His heroics have propelled Liverpool to the top of the league, a position that was further solidified by Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton earlier in the day.

Nevertheless, Interim England manager Carsley has also taken a huge hit with the hamstring injury, as his starting right back will miss the Nations League matches against Ireland and Greece.

He had started every game in his four prior appearances for Carsley, scoring once in his most recent game while playing an experimental position at left back and setting up another goal in his previous game while assisting on a goal from right back.

Friday, SunSport broke the scoop on how Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool were reaching a deadlock in their contract negotiations.

The reason for this is that the Liverpool club is unwilling to pay the academy graduate more than fellow players Virgil van Dijk (33), Mohamed Salah (32), and themselves.

His deal with the Reds will end in the summer of 2019.

Trouble is, the team is in the midst of contract negotiations with all three players, so things are unclear.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were both quite interested in Alexander-£180,000 Arnold’s weekly agreement, so Liverpool made multiple bids to improve it.
