Real Madrid has been harsh with Aurelien Tchouameni recently, and Liverpool is keeping a careful eye on his position.
In the UEFA Champions League, the French international had a dreadful match against AC Milan of Italy and was booed off the field by the Bernabeu fans.
If rumors in the media are to be believed, the Reds are preparing to make an initial approach to acquire the Les Bleus star from the Los Blancos.
The Spanish publication Fichajes reports that Liverpool are lining up an opening bid of £49.8 million, or 60 million euros, to entice Tchouameni. Arne Slot thinks he’d be a great addition to the team’s midfield and was previously on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
The publication states that the defensive midfielder, who formerly played for AS Monaco, is looking to depart the European Champions, with the Liverpool team being among the leading candidates to sign him.
Since Madrid promised to pay 100 million euros to acquire Tchouameni in 2022, they are unwilling to accept Liverpool’s offer of £49.8 million for him and are demanding a substantially greater sum.
The 24-year-old’s worth to the La Liga powerhouses was reported by TEAMtalk at the beginning of the month at £100 million. It is uncertain if they can ask for such a sum from a player whose form is now poor.
With an ankle injury that will keep him out for at least a month, Tchouameni will likely not play in Liverpool’s Champions League match against Real Madrid at the tail end of November.
