Dominik Szoboszlai has discussed the significance of both his Steven Gerrard tattoo and why he selected Liverpool’s storied No. 8 jersey.
On Sunday, Szoboszlai moved from RB Leipzig to Liverpool for £60 million, becoming Jurgen Klopp’s second summer purchase.
His arrival comes after that of Alexis MacAllister, who joined from Brighton and has worn the No. 10 jersey that Sadio Mane wore prior to departing for Bayern Munich.
“That’s not the quote, this is the actual tattoo he got https://t.co/TU4ClP93FJ” is what Ste posted onto Twitter.
The No. 8 jersey, which Gerrard wore most conspicuously, was handed down to Szoboszlai when Naby Keita departed the team.
Many Liverpool players have always looked up to Gerrard because of his achievements in Istanbul and dedication to the Merseyside club.

The 22-year-old is finally showing the depth of his strength.
Szoboszlai explains the tattoo on Gerrard.
In an interview with LFCTV regarding his arrival to Anfield, the Hungary international gave an explanation for why he chose to wear the No. 8 jersey.
“Not for any special reason, but it’s a large number,” he affirmed.
In addition, Steven Gerrard once said something I can’t even recall, and he also got me a tattoo.
The number eight had been prominently worn by Oyvind Leonhardsen, Jamie Redknapp, Paul Stewart, and Stan Collymore before being adopted by Emile Heskey before Gerrard.
