However, the former Manchester United great hit the bar with his penalty.

With his head in his hands, the 39-year-old left the away team’s penalty area.

When defender Waleed Al-Ahmed nodded home from a corner in the 71st minute, Al Taawoun stunned the home crowd and seized the lead.

The away team almost scored again in injury time, but in a dramatic turn of the tables, Waleed almost turned from hero to villain when he brought down Mohammed Maran inside the penalty box to give away a penalty.

Fortunately, anxiety turned to relief with Ronaldo’s penalty miss, which seals the Portuguese player’s third consecutive exit from the King’s Cup since joining Al Nassr in 2022.

Ronaldo will be looking to get back his usual self when the Saudi Pro League resumes on Friday, and Al Nassr take on league leaders, Al Hilal.
