WISDOM MOMENTS: Darwin Núñez confronts the referee over a denied penalty, but Virgil van Dijk steps in just in time to defuse the situation and calm his teammate

Darwin Nunez’s collision with Willi Orban’s foot in the first half of Liverpool’s encounter against RB Leipzig may have resulted in two goals rather than one.

The match’s chief referee stated that this collision was insufficient to give Liverpool a penalty. Nunez wanted to ‘politely address it’ because he was clearly unhappy with the referee’s choice.Luckily, Nunez is not the most courteous guy when speaking with the officials, as Van Dijk is aware.

Furthermore, he may have easily received an unnecessary yellow card under the new regulations. It’s crucial to maintain composure and let the club captain do all the talking, even when the choice is highly contentious.
