Arsenal star Riccardo Calafiori left the game against Shakhtar Donetsk on a limp.
After beating Chelsea 1-0, the Gunners won their third Champions League game of the season. However, the win was tainted by the fact that a player seemed to hurt his knee.
In the 68th minute, Calafiori slipped and seemed to twist his leg as he went down.
The Italian tried to keep playing for a short time after getting treatment, but he told the bench right away that he had to leave the game.
Gabby Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, two of his teammates, tried to make him feel better while he winced.
Calafiori was replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly, a young genius.
But the 18-year-old’s introduction was pushed back because the fourth judge told him to take out an earring.
Calafiori has had knee problems already this season, and he was seen with straps around his knees after the September win over Leicester.
His hurt could make Oleksandr Zinchenko’s return from a knock faster.
The Ukrainian was on the bench tonight because he wasn’t healthy enough to play.
Since the 1-1 draw with Brighton in August, Zinchenko hasn’t been seen. He played for ten minutes.
Arsenal plays Liverpool at home in North London on Sunday. It’s a very important game in the race for the Premier League title.
It was a “worry” for Mikel Arteta after tonight’s win that Calafiori was hurt, but he didn’t say that he wouldn’t play this weekend.
But he said Saka was “unlikely” to play because he hasn’t trained since hurting his leg.
