During his last few days off this summer, Mikel Arteta has been taking his family to the beach in Mallorca.

Coming up, the Manchester City coach has to go back to the club for the start of pre-season training. But he found time to relax in the sun with his wife Lorena Bernal and their three kids.

People on the Balearic Island saw Arteta and Bernal playing around in the water together on a very warm day.

Arteta almost became the boss of Arsenal, but he will be going back to work for Pep Guardiola’s team this summer.

After serious talks with the club’s leaders, the 36-year-old Spaniard was hired. They were very pleased with his plans for the club if he were to replace Arsene Wenger.

Arteta may have been hesitant to take the job because of having to make decisions about moves, but Unai Emery, the new manager of the Gunners, had no such doubts.  

A new two-year contract to stay at the Etihad Stadium soon made Arteta feel better after he was let go.

Guardiola and Arsenal’s owner Khaldoon Al-Mubarak got in touch with Arteta right away after hearing that Emery would be hired instead.

Arteta has had a mostly good career as a coach so far. Last season, he helped City win the Premier League title and the League Cup.
