Micah Richards finds Richarlison’s back tattoo confusing since it combines his own face with the faces of international teammates Neymar and the legendary Ronaldo of Brazil.
The Tottenham player celebrated their Sunday comeback against Liverpool, which saw them come back from a three-goal deficit, by taking off his jersey to display the tattoo.Spurs lost the game despite his enthusiastic celebration of his first Premier League goal, as Diogo Jota’s goal for Jurgen Klopp’s squad scored a minute later. Richards could be heard chuckling in the background when Richarlison’s tattoo was brought up for discussion on BBC Five Live’s The Monday Night Club. “That is kind of silly, isn’t it?” Answering a query about his laughs, Richards said.I am speaking of the football legend known as R9, or Ronaldo. Given Neymar’s personal success, why would you want a tattoo of him?To make his point clear, he stated, “Neymar is an incredible player, but it’s strange that he’s still playing.” “Neymar is a teammate; I mean, I could understand if it was someone who had retired.””It’s like getting a tattoo of Daniel Sturridge on me.” Despite how much I love and respect him, I’m not getting a tattoo of him. He is a superb athlete. Richards was a teammate of Sturridge’s at Man City until the latter transferred to Chelsea in 2009. Richarlison is pictured in the center, Neymar on the right, and Ronaldo on the left, in this massive back tattoo. He posted video of tattoo artist @dom.tattoo from the World Cup, where Brazil fell to Croatia in the quarterfinals, on Instagram in December of last year. Richarlison gave an explanation for his tattoo in an interview with GQ magazine, stating, “When I first started football, Ronaldo was my hero.”Though he is a few years my senior, Neymar is a member of my generation.”My goal was to emulate his appearance and style of play.”I then included myself because I also find inspiration in myself.Furthermore, a young individual wearing a Richarlison shirt and a baseball cap is seen seeing a favela in the tattoo. Richarlison got his first tattoo in 2020. In the ensuing three years, he has steadily expanded his collection. In recent years, the Premier League has seen a number of shocking tattoos. Dele Alli, an Everton football player, has several animated TV and video game characters inked on his body, including Super Mario, Rick and Morty, and Stewie from Family Guy.When Alli was still at Tottenham, he showed teammate Sergio Reguillon a video of his new sleeve featuring the characters. To show off his passion of cartoon characters, Jadon Sancho, the standout player for Manchester United, also got a tattoo of The Simpsons on his bicep.
