A lot of teams want to sign Georgi Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk. Arsenal is one of them. The two teams will play each other next week in the Champions League.
Spurs and Arsenal are both interested in signing Georgi Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider. However, Shakhtar Donetsk has no plans to sell him in January.
Instead, people who are interested are likely to become more serious about it in the summer.
Manchester City and Liverpool are also on O’Rourke’s short list of teams that he thinks want to sign Sudakov.
Charles Watts doesn’t say that the links are real, but he says in his Daily Briefing that they make sense. It’s too early to tell if Arsenal will try to sign the player, but Watts says it’s not a surprise that he’s been brought up as a possible target.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are said to like Sudakov because he fits the description and plays in an area where the club wants to hire players.
Recently, Sergei Palkin, the CEO of Shakhtar, said that Sudakov would be leaving the club in the summer. He said, “This summer window, he has a big chance to move to some big clubs.”
“We’ve talked to some big clubs, and some aren’t directly negotiating with us but are getting a feel for what it’s like in the summer.”
“He is going to move to a top club in Europe this summer for sure.”
That didn’t happen, and the Shakhtar leadership may be using it as another way to play mind games. Arsenal already had to deal with a lot of that when Mykhailo Mudryk was there.
That’s for sure. Next week, Shakhtar staff will meet with higher-ups at Arsenal, but not to talk about transfers. On Tuesday at 20:00 BST, the two teams will play at the Emirates Stadium. Fans may want to keep an eye on Sudakov’s game.
In 10 games this season, the player has scored seven goals and set up two others for Shakhtar. However, all nine of those goals have come in Ukrainian league games. In his two Champions League games so far this season (2024/25), he hasn’t scored yet.
