Antonella Roccuzzo, Lionel Messi’s wife, talked about their “biggest surprise” since moving to the United States and joining Inter Miami.
It was a big professional move for the Argentine star to leave European football and go to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the summer of 2023 when his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired and he became a free agent. As soon as he arrived in the US, Messi made an impression on and off the field.
He has won two more trophies with Inter Miami, the Leagues Cup, and the Supporters’ Shield, adding to the record number of titles he already has. Now he wants to win the MLS Cup. Messi is doing great now that he feels like he’s settled in Florida. His family is also quickly getting used to life in a new country and culture.
Antonella told Haute Living, “What I love most about Miami is the climate, the people, and the landscape.” This is why the Messi family felt right at home in the Sunshine State. It feels like summer is always going on because of all of this.
“The warm welcome we got when we got there was the biggest surprise for us.” We were sure it would be special, but it was even better than we thought. Getting used to life in Miami has been pretty easy, and we’re all glad about that. Our main worry was that the kids wouldn’t like it or be able to adjust well, but they did great from the start.
Messi has said before that he loves Miami. He said soon after moving there, “I came here to play and keep enjoying soccer, which is what I loved my whole life, and I chose this place because of all those things.” I am very pleased with the choice I made, with how my family and I live our daily lives, with how much we enjoy the city and this new experience, and with how the people of Miami and the US, in general, have welcomed us from the very first day.
“The people here made it easy for us to decide to move here. The people in the club, the people I see every day on the streets, and this beautiful city make living here very easy and happy.” The school has also helped us get used to our new surroundings and get settled in with our daily lives. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, since moving from Barcelona to Paris was a lot of work and this has been very different.”
