BACK STORY: Jack Grealish owes Trent Alexander-Arnold £500 as he regrets bet within seconds of England clash

There is a debt of £500 owed to Trent Alexander-Arnold by Jack Grealish because of the outstanding free kick that he scored against Finland.

Despite appearing to be in a precarious position with the loss to Greece, the Liverpool star started in Helsinki at a position that was unknown to him: left back.

The confidence that Lee Carsley had placed in him was rewarded when he sent a free kick into the top corner of the net, thereby doubling England’s lead.

Grealish scored the first goal of the game after a well-executed play in the 18th minute, and he disclosed that he had a cheeky bet with Alexander-Arnold prior to his free kick.

According to the statement made by the Manchester City player to ITV, “I obviously said to him as a joke, ‘if you score this I’ll give you £500.'”

“Afterwards, he simply threw it into the top bins, which means that I owe him now. I have a feeling that he will be saying it to me.

When Grealish, who is 29 years old, celebrated his goal, he made a reference to the birth of his daughter Mila.

Towards the end of the previous month, Grealish celebrated the birth of his daughter by sucking his thumb. Sasha, his girlfriend, had given birth to their daughter.

Before the game, the winger disclosed his intention to arrange a one-of-a-kind celebration in order to commemorate Mila’s birth.

According to what he stated, “Yeah, to be fair, do you know what I’ve been thinking about it for a while now? I just haven’t been able to score my goal yet.”

“Well, it is evident that I scored for England, but at that same moment, there was just so much going on, and it was England’s match against Ireland, that I just completely forgot about it. Then, yes, perhaps the following time.”

In addition, Declan Rice scored a goal for England in Helsinki, which allowed them to recover from their loss to Greece by claiming a 3-1 victory over Finland the next day.
