For the Nations League match, Alexander-Arnold, 26, was used in a manner that was new to him by Three Lions interim manager Lee Carsley. He was selected to play left-back rather than his typical position at right-back, or even in midfield, where he has represented his country.
Presenter Mark Pougatch discussed Alexander-Arnold’s positional adjustment with studio guests Keane and Ian Wright prior to the game.

Wright answered, “We’ll find out tonight. He is obviously on the wrong side, but when he turns around, he will be facing the right way and will be able to see everything.”Keane then cut straight to the chase, saying, “If you saw him the other night defending, it looked like he’d never played right-back before.”

The former midfielder for Ireland was speaking of his showing against Greece.

With several of its senior players out of form, England suffered an embarrassing loss.

But in spite of Keane’s critique before to the game, Alexander-Arnold would end up laughing the hardest.

When England were awarded a free kick outside the area, there was only one man who would step up to take it.To cap off an England triumph, Alexander-Arnold curled one in sumptuously from thirty yards out.

Carsley’s team triumphed 3-1, the ideal reaction to the terrifying performance on Thursday night.

In the eighteenth minute, Jack Grealish gave England the perfect start by sucking his thumb after scoring a goal he dedicated to his newborn daughter.

Alexander-Arnold’s outstanding free kick followed, and Declan Rice added a third.

Arttu Hoskonen gave the Finns a late consolation goal, but it was too late for them to pull off a victory.
