Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, two Real Madrid players, are starting for Les Bleus against Israel in their most recent UEFA Nations League match in Budapest.
In reality, with Kylian Mbappe out of the picture for both club and nation, Tchouameni is leading the France team tonight.
The 24-year-old enforcer in the middle of the park for Didier Deschamps’ team has been a fixture, and he’s been rewarded with a chance to lead the team for his consistent performances for the national team.
For the 2018 FIFA World Cup champions, Camavinga also receives a rare start, and that too in the middle of the park, given that Deschamps has traditionally favored to employ the young Real Madrid player at left-back.
Camavinga has played in very few minutes this season and has only recently returned from an injury. It will be intriguing to observe how he performs when he rejoins the national squad.
Theo Hernandez, a former left-back for Real Madrid, and William Saliba, the Merengues’ defensive target for 2025, also start.
