MIKEL ARTETA was seen looking at his “dark arts” notebook, which had THREE important tips on how to beat Southampton.
On Saturday, Arsenal beat the bottom team in the Premier League 3-1 at home. This kept his team close to Man City and Liverpool.
They came back from being behind to win all three points thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Bukayo Saka.
And Arsenal has now won their last four games in all competitions and is still perfect.
But Arteta might need to change how he plays in the next game at Bournemouth.
The Spanish player likes to write on game plans before and during games.
Arteta’s most recent notes were also found at the Emirates during the day, which was not good.
One piece of paper, which had a red header and footer, seemed to show different places on the field with different directions.
It was hard to read what it said, though, because the other side was written in black ink.
I could see another note better.
It also seemed to list Arteta’s three “principles” for beating Southampton.
“Force AR 6 yard” was written on the first note.
It’s not clear what this really means.
However, it could be seen as telling Saints goalie and former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale to play on the edge of his six-yard box.
The last few words of Arteta’s next two “principles” were hard to understand because his fingers were in the way.
One said, “Force our…”
The second one added, “Avoid switch…”
There was another part of Arteta’s scheme down below.
“Throw ins” was written on one note. “Who takes it?”
While the second one said “right” but Arteta cut it off anyway.
The Spanish manager praised his Arsenal players for their tough play after the game.
He said, “Saka can change games and decide who wins.”
“Players have to make that happen sometimes if we want to be at the top, and he did that again.”
“I can’t believe he’s doing that at his age and when the team needs him.” That’s what makes a great player.
Arteta also said this about Havertz: “He wants more.” He’s not pleased. He has one more level to go.
“He’s surrounded by great players, but he’s changed in some way.” You can really tell that he has faith in you.
“He’s now putting it in games and winning, which is great.” He is an aggressive midfielder and a nine. You have no idea where he is.
“That’s his football brain.” “I’m going to win the game, I’m going to do it,” he thinks.
