Transfer reporter Graeme Bailey claims that Arsenal is considering a deal to sign Valencia striker Cristhian Mosquera.
At the moment, the Gunners’ defence is really good. Mikel Arteta prefers to use William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes as his centre-back pairing.
The other defensive possibilities Arteta currently has are Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior, and Riccardo Calafiori.
But whereas Tomiyasu has recently struggled to maintain his fitness, Kiwior has been having trouble cracking Arteta’s starting lineup. Thus, it would be wise to sign an upgrade for the two, and it appears that the North London club intends to do so.
Bailey of TBR Football has revealed that Arsenal has been closely monitoring Mosquera’s progress recently in preparation for a possible 2025 raid.
Arsenal to Mosquera
At the end of this season, the Valencia star, who Transfermarkt values at approximately £25 million, will begin the final year of his current deal. In order to prevent losing him for nothing in 2026, Los Ches may be willing to let him go next summer.
The 20-year-old, who rose through the Spanish club’s junior system, has recently established himself as a vital member of his childhood club’s starting eleven.
Last season, he contributed to his team finishing in the top half of the standings. Despite Los Ches’ challenging start to the season—they currently find themselves in the relegation zone—Moquera has shown flashes of his potential.
At 6 feet 2 inches tall, the defender possesses strength, agility, and comfort when playing out of the back. He also has an eye for long-range passes and makes effective defensive contributions.
It would be fascinating to see whether the North London team decides to formally express interest in acquiring him in order to bolster the defence the following season.
Arsenal will face Southampton in the Premier League this weekend before the international break, coming off a thrilling 2-0 Champions League triumph over Paris Saint-Germain. The Emirates team will resume their league campaign against AFC Bournemouth following the break.
