With Inter Miami’s win of the Supporters’ Shield, Lionel Messi now has 46 trophies, making him the most accomplished player of all time.
When he led the Herons to Leagues Cup success soon after moving to Florida in the summer of 2023, Argentine superstar Messi changed the course of history. He has had a great career, with 44 wins. He has since helped his country win another Copa America title.
Messi got hurt in the final of that competition and had to miss a few weeks of play. He is now fully healthy and ready to lead the team to more championships at Chase Stadium. Getting the Supporters’ Shield in 2024 marked the end of the first of these challenges.
The prize goes to the MLS team with the best regular season record during a given season. Messi scored two goals in Inter Miami’s 3-2 win at the Columbus Crew to secure the top spot in that standing. After the game, there were wild scenes of joy in the locker room.
Messi, along with close friends Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, won another prize. He will be hoping that there are more celebrations to come. As Inter Miami heads into the playoffs, they still have their sights set on winning the MLS Cup.
