Arsenal staff were impressed by scouting reports and are now “plotting to sign” the wonderkid, who is already on his way to London.
Arsenal 2–0 PSG as the Gunners maintain their winning streak
The north Londoners are now in imperious form and have not lost in any competition, with the exception of Man City and Brighton, who have just destroyed PSG under Mikel Arteta’s leadership.
The home team took a well-earned lead in the first half thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, and Arsenal played an excellent match management job against the champions of France.
Leandro Trossard’s looping cross was supplied to Havertz, who headed the ball over Gianluigi Donnarumma to score it 1-0. Bukayo Saka then doubled their lead with a free kick that went between several bodies and into the bottom corner.
The score stayed that way until the end, and ten minutes after the restart, Havertz’s wide-open header may have resulted in a goal. Arsenal put up a statement performance, and even with PSG’s elite European ranking and quality players, they gave them very little trouble.
Saka received criticism from some for his lacklustre performance overall (Darren Bent), although all of the Arsenal players contributed to the decision, which was maybe unfair. Declan Rice and Thomas Partey played a commanding role in midfield against PSG, with Arteta praising the latter.

Arteta remarked, “I am very happy,” regarding Rice’s performance versus PSG.
“Obviously, we play different contexts, and this player has the ability to play different games and still be extremely important for the team. For example, last Saturday when we played here, he was very dominant with the ball and I believe he produced one of the best starts that they were producing in the Premier League. However, we must understand the context of the games that we play. He is a wonderful player who provides us so much; today, we deployed him as a six in the second half.”
Other players also had a historic evening as summer signing Mikel Merino made his Arsenal debut following his recovery from a shoulder fracture. Myles Lewis-Skelly, the star of the Hale End academy, made his Champions League debut in the meanwhile.
“Plotting to sign” Marcello de Barros, Arsenal
More gifted people than Lewis-Skelly have come out of Arsenal’s renowned academy, like Saka and the most recent rising star, Ethan Nwaneri.

However, it seems that Edu Gaspar and the Gunners recruitment staff are hoping to add another extremely talented adolescent to their set-up, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider today.
Marcello de Barros, who plays for St. Mirren and is highly regarded in Scotland, is reportedly someone Arsenal is planning to sign. The adolescent wonderkid has already left for London for a trial, where scouts will evaluate him after the center-back’s exploits for Scotland’s Under-15s wowed them.
At the end of last month, the defender made waves at an international youth competition in Serbia. Arsenal is now closely examining his skills in anticipation of a possible contract offer.
