After the game between FC Charlotte and Inter Miami, the former Celtic star was caught on camera hugging the Argentina World Cup leader as they switched shirts. The attacker said on social media that he will never forget the memorable moment. It happened after the game ended in a 1-1 draw, with the former Barcelona star saving a point for the home team.
He posted two pictures online. The first one shows him shaking hands with the 37-year-old. The second one shows Abada standing and posing with Messi’s shirt, which has his famous No. 10 on the back. He thanked the GOAT on Instagram by writing, “Thank you. “What a dream!” Luis Palma, who used to play for Celtic, sent him three star-struck and one fire emoji right away in the comments.
Hearts defender Cammy Devlin got a signed Messi shirt after Argentina and Australia played in the World Cup last 16. Abada is not the first player to play in Scotland’s top flight to own a Messi shirt. It is also the shirt he wore in his 1000th game, and it is worth a lot of money.
Devlin had said before about how he got the Messi shirt, “I went on [the pitch] and first comforted all the boys and then shook Messi’s hand.” I just tried my luck since no one had said anything, and he said, “I’ll see you inside.” I did. I really thought that one of the other boys should have had the chance first, but no one did, so I thought, “Why not?”
It’s more important to me that I got Devlin’s shirt than where it will be on his wall at home. It could still be on the ground in that locker room. I was shocked that he took mine. There’s no way he could know who I am, but he’s a nice enough and humble enough person to still show respect, which is great, but I wasn’t too worried about my shirt at that point.
Then the Hearts star player said that the now-icon is with his parents in Australia. He also said, “The jersey is going to be at my house; my dad has it.” I believe he will not let me touch it anymore.
