The score was bad, but Man United’s performance was even worse.

After only three minutes, they were behind. In addition, the Red Devils let up 24 shots and allowed Tottenham Hotspur to possess 61% of the possession.

A more significant loss was only averted by goalie Andre Onana’s extraordinary skill.

Naturally, this was a bad outcome for the supporters and the entire squad. It also suggests that Manchester United’s current campaign could not be as good as the previous one.

Ten Hag pleads for more time to improve Man Utd

However, head coach Erik ten Hag is still quite optimistic. Sharing with the media after the match last night, the Dutch coach said:

“No I am not thinking about this,” Erik ten Hag told a press conference after the Tottenham defeat when asked whether he is worried about his future at Man United.

“We all made this decision to stay together in summer, as ownership group, leadership group.

“Also we made the decision, after a clear review, what we have to improve as an organisation + how to construct a squad.

“All decisions made in togetherness, also knowing it would take some time. We are all there on one page, one boat, the ownership, the leadership group, the staff, players too.”

Man United courted other managers in the summer before coming full circle and giving Ten Hag a contract extension. Whether the team’s composition will compel the owners and directors to reconsider is yet to be determined.
