Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, says he doesn’t know if David Raya, Jurrien Timber, and Ben White will be able to play against Leicester City on Saturday.
It was easy for the Gunners to beat Bolton 5-1 in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. They will now play Preston North End, who plays in the Championship.
Arteta played well for 90 minutes, but the news that Raya, who has been great for Arsenal lately, is hurt ruined the game. Jack Porter, 16, became the youngest player to ever start for the Gunners.
When asked if Raya would play Leicester in the Premier League this weekend,
Arteta told the press, “We don’t know yet.” He hurt one of his muscles.
As for Harry Symeou, he said on X that he has been told by Arteta that he doesn’t know if Raya, White, and Timber will be fit for the weekend because Martin Odegaard is out for a long time.
After the game, Arteta was very impressed with Porter, who is 16 years old and on loan from Bournemouth. He could now give Neto his start against Leicester.
The Arsenal manager said, “We were sure that Jack could do the job because he had been training with us since football season began.”
“Of course, he plays for the [England youth national team].” We chose the right person because we saw what he could do.
“We told him yesterday, and he was thrilled right away.” I believe he told his family, but they weren’t ready for that. It’s a big step and an important event for them, and I think they were scared.
“But I think he handled it really well. He was very calm in training yesterday and today as well.” His friends also helped him a lot with that. “What an adventure.”
Highly valued midfielder Ethan Nwaneri scored both goals in his first start for the Gunners’ game against Bolton. Declan Rice, Raheem Sterling, and Kai Havertz also scored goals.
As a late replacement at Brentford two years ago, Nwaneri became the Premier League’s youngest player. He was only 15 years old. However, Wednesday’s game was only his fourth senior start.
In Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Tottenham earlier this month, Nwaneri came off the bench. When asked if he could be used more often in his team’s title bid, Arteta said, “Let’s go.” This is the next step. He’s ahead of what anyone thought would happen.
“It’s clear that he knows what he needs to do on the pitch and plays with confidence and belief.”
“Every time he plays for the first team, he goes above and beyond what everyone and I expected.” He deserves it, and since he’s one of us, he will get the breaks.
