It’s bad news for Arsenal that flexible midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly was taken off during their Carabao Cup game against Bolton Wanderers at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

With Gabriel Magalhaes coming on in the 62nd minute, the 17-year-old took over at left back against the League One club.

Lewis-Skelly got hit, and it looked like it wasn’t on the ball. He walked back to the sidelines and looked like he was going to play again, but the Arsenal youth graduate couldn’t and went down with the injury.

As Gabriel came on, Riccardo Calafiori changed from center back to left back. Calafiori had started the game as center-back.

Lewis-Skelly played his first game for Arsenal this past weekend, coming on as a substitute near the end of their Premier League match against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.

Before he came on, he was booked for sending a message to David Raya to slow things down. Tonight was his first start.

It was easy for Arsenal to beat Bolton 5-1 and move on to the next round. Their boss, Mikel Arteta, will be hoping that the win hasn’t hurt the fitness of another player.

Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kieran Tierney are already out for the Spanish manager. Raya was also not allowed to play against the League One club because he got hurt against Man City.

Ben White played through pain against Manchester City but didn’t play tonight either. Arteta will hope he is healthy for this weekend’s league game against Leicester City.

Neto is cup-tied because he played in the tournament this season before joining the North London club, so he had to play 16-year-old Jack Porter as goalie against Bolton. Also, Tommy Setford is hurt.
