Arsenal is allegedly interested in Jhon Duran as an alternative to Viktor Gyokeres, but it will be hard to make any move.
It is said on Football Transfers that Arsenal is thinking about signing Jhon Duran before the next window opens. It looks like Mikel Arteta wants to add a new striker to the team to make it stronger. The Colombian could be an option instead of Viktor Gyokeres.
For Jhon Duran, the last few months have been very exciting in his work. The Colombian star was almost let go by Aston Villa, but no club came close to paying their €50 million asking price for him. Chelsea was one of the teams that had offers turned down.
Some stories said Villa turned down 40 offers, which may have been a bit of an exaggeration, but Chelsea and West Ham United were both interested in the player. While everyone was talking about transfers, Duran has been able to do the talking on the field. He has scored in four of his five Premier League games this season, even though he has only come on as a replacement once.
So, if those suitors come calling in January or next summer, and if Duran keeps up his present form, Villa will have to ask for a lot more than the €50 million they thought they were worth in the summer. The Colombian is now being considered by Arsenal as an alternative to their main goal, Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners are having trouble with Gyokeres’ €100 million release clause, which is getting in the way of their moves.
