Lionel Messi was given a pair of custom-made Adidas Sambas that honor his long and successful career. The pair was made by the Argentine designer Stepwise, and every part of it is full of references to different times in Messi’s career on the game.
The “What The Messi” Sambas are a patchwork of an icon’s footballing journey. They were all made by hand by the Oakland-based customiser. The handmade creps are based on shirts that La Pulga wore while playing for Barcelona, PSG, Newell’s Old Boys, and Inter Miami.
They also pay tribute to his time with the Argentine national team and those wins. Messi’s logo and a patch for winning the 2022 World Cup are on the famous Samba tongue.
This isn’t the first time Stepwise has made a pair of shoes that look like the best player in the beautiful game. In December, he let a lot of people pre-order the “What The Messi” Nike SB Dunk Lows. Now he’s gone one step further by customizing a pair of the year’s most popular styles and hand-delivering them to the Adidas star.
