ARSENAL has signed MIKEL ARTETA to a new three-year deal.
He signed a new contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2027. The Spaniard’s old contract was set to end at the end of this season.
Arteta’s salary will also go up a lot. He used to make £9 million a year, but it will get closer to Pep Guardiola’s £20 million salary.
“I feel incredibly proud and excited, and I can’t wait for what comes next,” Arteta said. I’m proud of where I am in life and the friendships I have within the club.
“Every day I get to work with such nice people and a strong sense of purpose. I feel very lucky.” I’m motivated, pushed, and backed up, and I want to do a lot more than what we’ve already done.
“We’re excited about the next few years with our fans, who have made the club and the team more emotional for everyone at the club, including the players.”
“The people who helped us have changed us, and we are different now.”
“The fact that you can tell we’re different makes me think it’s because of them.” We are excited to keep going on this journey together.
It’s good news for Arsenal fans before Sunday’s North London derby at Tottenham.
The new deal will also ease worries about Arteta after he had to deny rumours that he was going to move to Barcelona last season.
The Athletic says Arsenal and Arteta agreed to the new contract to “eliminate any uncertainty” about the future of the boss.
He quit his job as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City to join Arsenal in 2019.
