Paulinho, the former midfielder for Tottenham, declared on Instagram that he was retiring from professional football. Neymar has already written him a message.
In response to Paulinho’s retirement from Tottenham, Neymar has spoken out.
The 36-year-old made 67 appearances for the Lilywhites while playing for Spurs from 2013 to 2015. Paulinho then had stints at the Catalan powerhouses Barcelona, Corinthians, Al-Ahli, and Guangzhou.
Additionally, the Brazilian made appearances at two World Cups and two Copa Americas while playing more than 50 games for his country. Throughout his career, he was awarded 14 major trophies.
Additionally, he received a message from former teammate and Brazilian superstar Neymar following his emotional Instagram video announcement of retirement. Using his Instagram story, he congratulated Paulinho on his success.
When discussing his tenure at Tottenham, Paulinho had nothing but praise for the North London team. However, he acknowledged that it wasn’t always simple.
In 2018, he said to The Player’s Tribune, “I worked with [Brazil manager] Tite for four years at Corinthians, and that was a golden period in my life and in my work.” “I had a rough second season after leaving to play for Tottenham in the Premier League, and many people lost faith in me.”
“But Tite was one person who never stopped believing in me.”
“I actually want to address a few misconceptions regarding my tenure with the Spurs. I truly have nothing negative to say about the club, the employees, or the president.
It’s true that I had a very tough time during that time as a player, and there were moments when I resisted leaving my London flat. I was very upset that I couldn’t play.
“Not playing is like a fish out of water for a football player. It was like I was being choked.
I was not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, for whatever reason. I suppose I didn’t match his mindset, but we never really got into a fight.
“I told the club president one day that I would prefer to go on if they received an offer that was comparable to what they had paid for me. They handled it with utmost professionalism.
Guangzhou made Spurs a permanent offer that summer. I asked myself, “Why not?”
