Lionel Messi, an Argentine star, poses with a Formula 1 car that can go as fast as the new Adidas F50 boots.
Part of the marketing to promote the new F50 boots is a picture of the Argentine star posing with a Formula 1 car.
Messi has several fast cars, but he doesn’t drive an F1 car. He was the winner of the FIFA World Cup.
One of these is a very rare 1957 Ferrari 335 S Scaglietti Spider, which is also the most expensive car he owns.
Adidas, a German company that makes sportswear and shoes, shared pictures of Lionel Messi posing with a Formula 1 race car as part of a campaign to promote the relaunched F50 boots.
Nike and Messi both wrote on their Instagram pages:
I found the car with the speed I was looking for. This means “I found the ride that fits my 𝒂𝒏𝒖.”
The pictures show that the F50 boots, which are based on F1 cars, were carefully made to be fast and perform well for a sport that requires football players (like Messi) to move and respond faster than ever.
Mr. Sam Handy, who is SVP of Product and Design at Adidas, said:
Many people have said that the F50 was the most important boot of the last 20 years. After 9 years off the ice, the time is right to bring back its game-changing speed.
“Tactics, statistics, and often rigid tactical structures have taken over modern football, so sometimes the only way to break the game is to go fast.”
Messi won the FIFA World Cup and has a collection of fast cars, including a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Scaglietti Spider, which is the most expensive one in his collection. He won’t be driving an F1 car any time soon, though.
Former Real Madrid player and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner bought the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Scaglietti Spider at an auction for a huge $36 million, beating out his rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the process.
