In recent months, Lionel Messi’s bodyguard has become famous for keeping a close eye on the Inter Miami leader like he was crazy.
Still, on Saturday night, he showed that he was like everyone else.
It was almost over for Messi and Miami’s season after they lost 1-0 to Cincinnati at home, ending their chances of making the MLS playoffs. A young fan was seen running onto the pitch at DRV PNK Stadium to try to meet his hero.
As the boy ran straight for Messi, his bodyguard Yassine Chueko quickly stepped in to stop him.
David Beckham chose Chueko, a former US soldier, to protect Messi. He stopped him from going any further and then pulled him away from his famous client.
But Chueko puts his arm around the boy and leads him over to Messi, who is ready to sign the boy’s Miami shirt and take a picture with him. It’s not clear if he was told to do this or not.
The legendary player from Barcelona then does exactly what he said and gives him back his pen. Chueko then leads him off the pitch.
Since Beckham hired him, Messi’s guardian has become a bit of a media star online, and fans quickly took to social media to praise him for making the boy’s day.
One person said, “He’s amazing.”
Someone else wrote, “Aww!” There is a good bodyguard there!
“What a story,” wrote a third.
One person just said, “That kid will never forget this moment.”
La Nación says that Chueko is a former Navy Seal who has worked in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also said to be good at fighting, taekwondo, and martial arts because he has fought in several MMA matches.
Beckham, who owns a part of Inter Miami, reportedly hired him especially to be Messi’s bodyguard because of the rise in pitch invaders over the past few years.
