Lionel Messi’s famous phrase was funnily stolen by Cristiano Ronaldo on his new YouTube account. The video has since gone viral.
Ronaldo started a YouTube channel last month. In the first 24 hours, he broke the world record by getting 15 million followers.
He has already interviewed Rio Ferdinand, who used to play for Manchester United, and posted videos of himself with his long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez.
In a recent video with Rodriguez, the two of them could be seen laughing before Ronaldo said, “Que Miras bobo,” which means “What are you looking at, fool?”
And there was a reason for it: Messi used the same words after Argentina beat the Netherlands in the World Cup quarterfinals in 2022.
Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz gave out 17 yellow cards during the tense game, with players from both teams arguing with each other several times.
Argentina seemed like they were going to win easily when they were ahead 2-0 in the last few minutes, but Wout Weghorst scored twice off the bench to make it extra time.
The South American country won in the end on penalties thanks to Emiliano Martinez’s heroics as an Aston Villa goalkeeper, but the debate didn’t end after the game.
Weghorst caught Messi’s eye during an interview after the game. He thought the forward had been bothering him during the game and yelled, “What are you looking at, fool?”
The memorable moment went viral right away, and many people were shocked to see Messi lose his anger with an opponent.
After the fight, Weghorst tried to downplay the argument by saying that he had only been trying to show Messi “respect” for a tough fight.
As Weghorst told the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, “I fought against Messi and there were a few moments between us.”
“I believe he didn’t like it and was shocked by it.” However, I admire him a great deal. He is one of the best people ever.
“After the game, I wanted to show Messi my respect, but he didn’t want it.”
“I think he was mad at me still.” That’s okay, I think it’s great that he knows my name now. That way, I did some good things.
Messi’s famous line has now been copied by Ronaldo, and he still seems to want to win the World Cup like Messi did before he hung up his boots.
Messi led Argentina to victory over the Netherlands two years ago, and Ronaldo seems set on playing in his sixth World Cup in 2026. If all goes well, Messi will have been there.
He will be 41 years old when the event starts in the US, Mexico, and Canada, but he has said that he still thinks he can play at the highest level for many years to come.
While talking to reporters earlier this week about his plans to quit, the Portuguese superstar said, “When the time comes, I’ll move on.” There won’t be any trouble making up your mind.
“I’ll be the first to leave if I feel like I’m no longer adding anything.”
