Jurrien Timber, an Arsenal defender, gave the team a scare when he went down with a knock on his right knee in the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion. He had to be taken off in the 80th minute.
The boss, Mikel Arteta, made it clear that the Dutch player had not hurt himself when asked about his absence, but fans were still worried because he had been having trouble staying fit.
Timber missed the end of preseason because of a foot problem and a load-bearing injury. He didn’t play against Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, or Lyon.
But the Arsenal star played again on the first day of the 2024–25 Premier League season, coming off the bench in a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Last weekend, they beat Aston Villa 2-0, and because of how well he played at Villa Park, he got to start again against Brighton.
In the last 10 minutes of the game against Brighton, Timber was replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko. He is now healthy, though, and will be eager to show what he can do when the Netherlands play Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 7 and Germany on September 10.
This 23-year-old player missed almost all of last season because of an ACL injury. He is now back to show himself after missing most of his first season with the Gunners.
