THE ARSENAL signing Mikel Merino got hurt strangely in his first training session with the Gunners.
After a crash with teammate Gabriel, the 28-year-old Spanish player will be out for a few weeks with a broken shoulder.
Mikel Arteta, the CEO of Emirates, stated, “It’s a shame.” He was in an accident yesterday and hurt his shoulder.
“It looks like he might be out for a few weeks.” It was his first meeting.
“Everyone was thrilled and things looked good, but he fell to the ground and broke his arm in a small way.”
“He was in a lot of pain, and we need to wait and check again.”
“This is football.” Our goal was to do everything we set out to do.
Merino moved from Real Sociedad to Arsenal for £32.6 million, giving them more choices in the middle of the pitch.
Arteta wanted to improve his engine room and thought the Spain player who had won the Euros would be a great fit.
The issue is even worse for Arsenal because Merino has a great track record of staying healthy.
He has played in more than 40 games in each of the last three seasons.
Arsenal spent just over £100 million on three players this summer: £27 million on David Raya, £42 million on Riccardo Calafiori, and now £27 million on Merino.
