After all, Liverpool quickly agreed on the Federico Chiesa deal.

Specifically, Liverpool announced: ” Liverpool have reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Federico Chiesa. The 26-year-old striker has completed a medical and successfully signed a long-term contract.

 

Chiesa, who has 51 caps for Italy and is part of the squad for EURO 2024, arrives at Anfield after four seasons and 131 appearances for Juventus.”

Chiesa is a Liverpool player.

 

Liverpool have agreed a €15m deal to sign Federico Chiesa , according to Fabrizio Romano . The 26-year-old started his career at Fiorentina, making over 150 appearances before joining Juventus. Despite  being hampered by injuries , Chiesa has won two Coppa Italia titles with the Old Lady.

He had a productive campaign during his time at Juventus last season, scoring nine goals in 33 Serie A appearances. However, Chiesa is no longer part of Juventus’ plans and is forced to leave. At Anfield, he will be an effective backup option for Mohamed Salah.

Chiesa said: “I am very happy to be a Liverpool player. When Richard Hughes (sporting director) called me and said, ‘Do you want to join Liverpool?’ – and the coach Arne Slot called me – I said yes straight away because I know the history of this club, I know what it represents to the fans.

As soon as I saw Anfield, I said to my wife, ‘Put on that song – You’ll Never Walk Alone – because I want to imagine myself playing there and hearing the fans’ screams.’ So I’m very happy and I can’t wait to get started.”

At international level, the striker was part of the Italy squad that won EURO 2020. It was during this time that Chiesa flourished, appearing in all seven matches, scoring twice and earning a place in the UEFA Team of the Tournament.

Chiesa wears the number 14 shirt at Anfield.

At Anfield, Chiesa will wear the number 14 shirt. When asked if the number 14 has any special meaning, Chiesa replied: “Yes, it really does. It is the number I wore when I was in the national team.

But it was easy for me to choose 14 because Liverpool sent me a video, and at the end of the video, there were goals I scored for Fiorentina and Juventus with the number 14 on my back. I immediately said that this number was set. So I chose 14.”

The number 14 shirt carries a lot of significance at Anfield. It was previously worn by former captain Jordan Henderson , who wore it for 12 seasons before leaving in 2023.

Xabi Alonso, Milan Jovanovic, Vegard Heggem, Neil Ruddock and Jan Molby are also famous players who have worn this shirt number.
