Febrizio Romano, a transfer expert, says that the personal terms deal between Chiesa and Liverpool is “100% done.”
The Italy player will now join the Reds for a base price of £10 million plus an extra £2.5 million.
Chiesa said, “I’m thrilled and excited to become a player for Liverpool.” My family and I are really happy.
Liverpool is now on the clock. I’m so happy. I’m really excited!”
Last year, Chiesa scored nine goals in 33 Serie A games. He was about to start the second-to-last year of his contract.
The ex-Fiorentina winger was a constant under Max Allegri, but new Juventus manager Thiago Motta didn’t want him to play.
In an attempt to cash in on their once highly valued asset, the Italian powerhouses Bologna decided not to include him in the team’s preseason tour to Germany under former manager Motta.
Following his return from a major knee injury, Chiesa has struggled after making a splash on the European arena during his early Serie A years.
Prior to his injury in 2022, he was largely considered as one of Europe’s most dynamic wingers. He was named in the tournament team and starred in Italy’s 2021 Euro victory.
Just three years ago, his valuation was in the £100 million range, but since then, he has had a rough time with injuries.
Chiesa has long been admired by Liverpool, who have finally decided to sign the gifted winger in an incredibly cheap bargain deal.
With Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota having had strong seasons to start, it was not believed that the Arne Slot was looking for reinforcements in that area.
Additionally, both Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo started the campaign as extremely skilled understudies.
Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United all previously expressed interest in Chiesa.
Before Friday’s transfer deadline, Liverpool also hopes to acquire Valencia custodian Giorgi Mamardashvili for £29 million.
