Liverpool has agreed to pay Juventus £10 million up front to get Federico Chiesa.
Following a test on Wednesday, the 26-year-old winger will sign a four-year deal and fly to Liverpool.Football expert Fabrizio Romano says that the personal terms deal between Chiesa and Liverpool is “100% done.”
Now, the Reds have agreed to pay £10 million for the player and another £2.5 million in add-ons.
Chiesa said, “I’m thrilled to join Liverpool as a player. “My family and I are really very happy.”
“Thank you to Juventus and the fans. You’ve always been special to me.”
“Now it’s time for Liverpool.” I’m so glad. “I can’t wait!”
He was in the last year of his deal, but Chiesa scored nine goals in 33 Serie A games last season.
The winger who used to play for Fiorentina was not allowed to play by new Juventus boss Thiago Motta. He was a regular player under Max Allegri.
He wasn’t with Bologna on their pre-season trip to Germany because Motta, who used to manage the team, wanted to get rid of their most valuable player.
Chiesa had a big time in Europe when he first came to Serie A, but he’s had a hard time since coming back from a major knee injury.
Before his accident in 2022, he was seen as one of the most exciting wingers in Europe. He also played a big role in Italy’s win at Euro 2021, and was named to the tournament’s team of the year.
Three years ago, he was worth around £100 million, but since then, he’s had a terrible time with injuries.
Liverpool has liked Chiesa for a long time and has now agreed to sign the skilled winger for an incredibly low price.
It wasn’t thought that Arne Slot was looking for help in that area because Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota were all having a great start to the season.
And Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo started the campaign as backups with a lot of experience.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Barcelona had already said they were interested in Chiesa.
Also, Liverpool wants to pay £29 million to get Valencia custodian Giorgi Mamardashvili before the transfer deadline on Friday.
It is thought that the Georgian custodian will be useful for a long time, so he will be moved to Bournemouth this season to get Premier League experience.
