FORGOTTEN STARS: Liverpool ‘open talks over cut-price transfer for Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa’ as forward’s dropped from squad

Real Madrid and Liverpool are said to be in talks about a cheap deal for Federico Chiesa, a forward who hasn’t been performing well for Juventus.

The winger doesn’t fit in at Juve and was fired by new manager Thiago Motta. He can play out wide or through the middle.

When Chiesa joined the Turin club four years ago, big things were thought of him.

But he’s only scored 32 goals in 131 games during that time.

And Juventus hasn’t won a single Serie A title either, even though they had won it nine times before he came.

Because Chiesa isn’t reliable and keeps getting hurt, he’s now only worth £12.5 million, a big drop from the £45 million Juventus paid for him from Fiorentina.

SunSport was the first to report that Chelsea has been keeping an eye on Chiesa in case they can’t get Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

But The Times says Liverpool is now in first place.

Romano also says that Chiesa has already given the go-ahead for a move.

Liverpool are in talks with Juventus over a deal for flop forward Federico Chiesa

Arne Slot has been in charge at Anfield for 86 days and has yet to sign a single player.

This week, Valencia goalie Giorgi Mamardashvili is going to move to Chelsea for £25 million.

But he will stay at the club where he is now until 2025.

And Chiesa could now be the first player Slot brings in for his current team.

Five players have already joined Liverpool. They are Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz.

But their centre isn’t very strong now that Real Sociedad star and Spain Euro winner Martin Zubimendi turned down their offer.

But it looks like Slot wants to add another shooter to his front line.

Now, Liverpool will try to make a deal before Friday, when the deal is due to be finalised.
