Football Insider has learnt that Liverpool has joined Man City, Arsenal, and Tottenham in the race to sign Eberechi Eze, the star player for Crystal Palace.
On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior reporter Pete O’Rourke said that Arne Slot’s team is the latest to show interest in the attacking midfielder after seeing how well he played for England.
Man United and Chelsea are also said to be keeping an eye on the 26-year-old, and any deal will cost a lot of money.
Eze has a £60 million release clause, but there are other conditions that must be met as well. One of them is said to depend on whether the club that wants to buy him is in the Champions League.
This comes after Football Insider said that Palace is doing everything they can to keep their star player after Bayern Munich signed Michael Olise.
The release clause for Olise’s departure was also very difficult, which let the German giants sign him before Chelsea did.
Liverpool is in the running with Manchester City and Arsenal to sign Eberechi Eze. Eze moved from QPR to Palace in 2020 for £16 million and has since played 124 times for the south Londoners.
He has scored 26 goals and set up 17 others in that time. He has now scored ten or more goals in back-to-back Premier League seasons.
Elite teams from all over Europe, including Liverpool, are interested in him because of how he changes games in the final third and how good he is with the ball.
The creative midfielder scored 11 goals and set up six others across all competitions last season, helping the Eagles finish in the top half, ahead of Brighton.
After Oliver Glasner moved to Selhurst Park, he scored six of his eleven goals and set up three more.
Man UnitedBecause of how well he played for Palace, England put him in their Euro 2024 group. He has played three times and helped Gareth Southgate’s team get to the final.
Sources also say that Eze’s time in the England squad has made him want to play at the top level, and clubs are ready to give him the chance to do so.
Man United could lose points, which is not good news.
