Arsenal beat Man City in PFA Team of the Year but Bukayo Saka is missing😪😪

The PFA Premier League Team of the Year has been named, and Arsenal, who came in second, is the most impressive player on the list.

Arsenal stars dominated the PFA Team of the Year

In the end, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners came up two points short of eight-time champions Manchester City on the exciting last day of the 2023–24 season.

The Emirates team played great all season, and their fans chose for FIVE stars to be included in the best XI for the season.

Man City, on the other hand, has only FOUR men in their lineup.

David Raya, who was on loan from Brentford to Arsenal and then signed permanently this summer, beat Alisson to the custodian spot.

The best defensive pair, William Saliba and Gabriel, was an easy choice at the back.

Virgil van Dijk was chosen by the PFA as another centre back to strengthen the defence.

The captain of Liverpool, who came third in Jurgen Klopp’s last season, beat out John Stones and Ruben Dias for the other spot, with Kyle Walker moving to right back.

Rodri was picked to play in the middle of the centre trio, and Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard were also picked.

That’s the first time since 2019 that Kevin de Bruyne hasn’t made the best starting eleven.

And, just like last year, only FOUR teams are there: Aston Villa, Arsenal, City, and Liverpool.

Phil Foden and Ollie Watkins, who both scored 19 goals, have been picked in the PFA XI for the first time.

Also, Erling Haaland is named to the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the second year in a row.

Foden was named the PFA Player of the Year. Three months ago, he won the award from the Football Writers’ Association.

Cole Palmer won the Young Player of the Year award at the Manchester Opera House. He is a star player for both Chelsea and England.

He won the Golden Boot for the second year in a row with 27 goals.

Important exceptions

Palmer, a superstar who had the best Premier League debut season ever, didn’t make the starting lineup even though he scored 22 goals last season.

While Bukayo Saka also didn’t make it because his form got worse near the end of last season.

Many people think De Bruyne is the best Premier League midfielder of all time, but the Belgium international was hurt for most of the first few months of the season and missing most of the rest.

Foden arrived with missus Rebecca Cooke and young son Ronnie

He still scored four goals and set up ten others in 21 home games.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is another noticeable exception.

Salah scored 18 goals, bringing his total number of goals in the Premier League to 155. He scored again at Ipswich on Saturday, bringing his total to 156.

The Egyptian star has won the PFA Player of the Year award twice, in 2017/18 and 2021/22.
