Mikel Arteta has identified Mikel Merino as his top target to strengthen his midfield in the summer, but Arsenal are still struggling to reach an agreement with the Spanish side for the Euro 2024 winner.
However, sources in Spain say the two clubs have agreed a £30m deal for the 28-year-old, with the hope of completing the deal by Tuesday next week. And that deal has taken a step forward after the midfielder was left out of Real Sociedad’s squad for their game against Rayo Vallecano.
