Arsenal could finally ditch Zinchenko by signing the best full-back in the world!😨😨

Arsenal hopes that third time’s the charm next season after two seasons of almost winning the Premier League but not quite making it.

The team led by Mikel Arteta is lucky because they don’t need to make many big changes to their first team this summer. However, even the best teams could use some small improvements now and then.

Aside from a scorer who scores 20 to 25 goals a season, Oleksandr Zinchenko is the player that a lot of fans think could be improved.

There has been an interesting player mentioned to the club over the last few months who would definitely be an upgrade.

News about Arsenal transfers

In July, TBR Football said that Arsenal was one of several teams interested in signing Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich’s star left back. However, the story said that the Gunners would miss out because Davies had already agreed to join Real Madrid.

According to a newer story from the Spanish newspaper AS, Bayern are now ready to sell the talented full-back this summer. They could do so for as little as €30m (£26m), so they don’t lose him for free next year.

With this move from the German giants, the race for the former Vancouver Whitecaps star is now wide open. As TBR recently said, this could give the Gunners a chance to jump back in.

It would be brave of Edu Gaspar and his team to do that, but given Davies’s skill and the low fee, it is worth a shot. He’s a great step up from Zinchenko.

How Davies is like Zinchenko

There’s no doubt that both left backs’ best quality is their ability to attack, whether it’s through smart passes or hard runs up and down the pitch. But who had a more productive season last year?

The fact that former USMNT player Alexi Lalals called Davies “the best left back in the world” doesn’t come as a surprise. Davies has scored three goals and set up six others in 42 games for Bayern, which is an impressive record of one goal every 4.66 games.

Zinchenko, on the other hand, scored one goal and set up two others in 35 games for Arsenal last season. That means he was involved in a goal about every 11.66 games.

So, what about the numbers that make them up? Is the parallel still unfair when we look at what’s going on inside?

In fact, it is, as the Buduburam-born dynamo wins most of the important metrics. These include a wide range of offensive metrics, such as expected goals plus assists, actual non-penalty goals plus assists, progressive carries, shots on target, passing accuracy, key passes, goal-creating actions, and successful take-ons, all per 90.

Also, his underlying numbers show that he’s pretty good at defence. He leads in measures like blocks, interceptions, clearances, and ball recoveries, and he also makes fewer mistakes that lead to shots, all per 90.

In the end, Davies is a better fullback than Zinchenko in every way that can be measured. Zinchenko is a talented fullback who has helped Arsenal get back to the top of the league over the last couple of years. So, if the Gunners have even a small chance to sign the Canadian this summer, they should do it.
