A BIG DREAM: Gareth Southgate addressed his future as England coach as he declared he was proud of his players after losing a second Euro final in a row

Gareth Southgate has said that he will think about it for a while before choosing if he wants to keep being England manager.

He was in charge of England when they came in second place at Euro 2024. This was three years after they also came in second at the delayed Euro 2020 event.

After failing to win their first big men’s trophy since 1966, England lost 2-1 to Spain in Berlin on Sunday night.

At a little after an hour after the game, Southgate was asked by ITV about his plans for the future.

His answer was, “I do not think now is a good time to decide.” I need to talk to the right people. Not right now.

The Football Association has hired Southgate as manager since September 2016 and will keep him on until December. There are, however, reports that top FA officials want him to continue that deal.

England has made it to the finals of both the Euros and the World Cup under Southgate. They have also made it to the semi-finals and quarterfinals in both tournaments.

After England’s 2-1 loss to Spain on Sunday night, Southgate said he was proud of his team and also said nice things about Spain.

He said, “I think they were the best team in the tournament.” “We did not keep the ball well enough, but we were in it until the end.” I feel terrible for everyone. The players have been amazing, and I am so proud of them.

“We were getting stronger and had a great chance to tie the game at the end, but I am not sure we did enough.”

“When you win the ball back against Spain, you have to keep it.” In the first half, our defence was fine, but that wears you down.

“We have had a lot of problems, there is no way around that.” We have been able to handle most of them, but not all of them.

“I think the players deserve a lot of credit for getting us so close.”

“I am proud of how hard they have worked, how proud they were to wear the shirt, and how they never lost until the last five minutes of the game.”

After that, he said, “England is in a really good position right now because of how experienced they are and how old their team is.”

“This team will be at the next World Cup.” There are many things to look forward to, but that does not make things better.
