After winning seven titles during his time at Liverpool, a former star player decided to drastically shift careers and became an evangelical pastor. Last Sunday, June 30, the player—who finished with 82 goals for the Reds—was installed as a pastor at the church he helped build in Maceio, his hometown.

With his spouse, Larissa, the 32-year-old forward shared a post on Instagram describing the event as “memorable and unforgettable.”

They continued, saying, “A desire burns in our hearts after encountering Christ: that others may know this love that has reached us.”

We now have a new calling and duty: to serve as pastors who collaborate with the Kingdom and follow God’s own heart.

The former Liverpool player took home multiple awards, including the Champions League championship in 2018–19.

The Brazilian, who made 55 appearances for his nation and also won the Copa America in 2019, is obviously a devoted Christian.

2020 saw his baptism in his former teammate and fellow countryman Alisson Becker’s pool.

 Of course, we’re talking about none other than Roberto Firmino.

He was a crucial component in Jurgen Klopp’s turnaround at Anfield. Prior to joining Liverpool, he worked as a professional with Hoffenheim, making 140 games and scoring 38 goals.

His 82 goals for Liverpool were earned in just over 250 games over the course of eight seasons.

Together with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, he created a formidable attacking threat during that period. Firmino won the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, and Champions League under Klopp.

Firmino left the Reds at the end of the 2023 campaign, having fallen behind players such Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota in the Anfield hierarchy.
