Darwin Núñez, a top player for Liverpool, faced difficulties during Uruguay vs. Panama. The 24-year-old can, however, relax knowing that he gave the South American team the lead late in the game with a goal.
Núñez would score in the 85th minute to earn Uruguay the three points, despite blocking the best shots from the Central American team.
Michael Amir Murillo scored for Panama, but Maximiliano Araujo, Nunez, and Matias Vina scored goals for the winning Uruguayans, who defeated them 3-1.
Nunez, a star player for Liverpool, played for the full ninety minutes, and El Observador was all over his performance for the country.
Darwin’s performance in the first half was remarkable, according to the journal, which gave the striker an eight out of ten match rating.
“At the eleventh minute, he called for a penalty that wasn’t there. After dodging two markers, he finished at the 17-minute mark from outside the area, but Orlando Mosquera stopped the goal from going in.
“A goal was conceded in a one-on-one with the custodian at the 28-minute mark. He visited each one of them. He took over as the attack’s leader.
He finally got the reward he so richly earned at the 84th minute of the match. It was 2-0 thanks to him.
El Observador said, “Vina’s play and Nunez’s intensity throughout each of his attacking interventions represented Uruguay’s two best moments of the first half.”
However, another website, FutbolUy, did not see the performance that way, writing, “He scored the goal that gave Uruguay peace of mind and ended the game.”
“He didn’t finish a good performance, in general. As the minutes went by, he began to lose confidence and squandered multiple obvious goal opportunities.
“He makes decisions with insecurity and ineffectiveness. He frequently exited the area to make contact with the ball in the supplement.
Given that many Liverpool supporters remain unsure about Nunez’s talent, his most recent performance for his country’s squad may be summed up as his Liverpool career thus far.
The attacker has shown on multiple occasions that he is capable of finding the back of the net for the Reds, but he has also demonstrated his lack of skill in the area.
